diversions

A series of short stories, entitled ‘the diversions’ were developed alongside the paintings.

Throughout the resulting text and images, I pursue ideas about identity, mutability, sexuality and sensuality.

Today I began a series of paintings called ‘kissing flowers’. These divide into two sections, kissing dead flowers
and kissing living flowers.

I am using the cast of a Michaelangelo two-in-one head-
Male and female are split in half, reversed, turned upside-down, inside out. They remain oblivious of each other, intent only on kissing their flowers.

Caught mid-action, they will remain the same and forever different. This is no mirror image.
